Official notice for SBI Clerk Selection Process for 2018 is already issued, and it declares that the Banking authorities will select 9633 candidates. This number of candidates includes both fresh and backlog candidates. The post is for Customer Support and Sales, and it comes below Clerk categorization. The selection procedure will change at all level starting from Prelims, then Mains, Local Language Test and then in the final selection or allotment. Some details are mentioned for better understanding.
SBI Clerk Exam 2018 Selection Procedure

Prelim, the first part of the exam will take place in March or April 2018, but the dates are yet not known. It will be the Online test and the time limit is fixed to 60 mins. The number of questions to be attempted is 100, and all are objectives.
Sectional Time Limit is changed which means that each section will have 20 mins for answering. The major sections in the prelims are Numerical Ability, Reasoning Ability, and English Language. Both Reasoning Ability and Numerical Ability will have 35 marks each, and the English Language will carry 30 marks but the time limit for each section is same. In 2018, Prelims has no cut-off marks which states that no minimum marks are required to qualify the exam. After the Preliminary exams, candidates can check results through the official website of SBI.
Process of Shortlisting the candidates for the Main exam
From the Prelims, the candidates will be shortlisted for the Main exams in 2018, and they will only be eligible for the Main exam.
The number of candidates which will be shortlisted for the Main exam will be decided by the exam authorities of SBI, and this depends entirely on the number of vacancies available as on date. In each category, the selection will be ten times the number of vacancies.
Whatever the marks one gets will not be added anywhere in the selection process.
This is the most important stage of the SBI Clerk Selection Procedure. The candidates will be strictly selected based on the marks obtained in the Mains exam.
There are four sections in the exam, and they are Quantitative Aptitude (50 marks), Reasoning Ability and Computer Aptitude (60 marks), General English (40 marks), General/Finance Awareness (50 marks). Each mark for each question. Total marks come to 200. Total time given to the candidates for each section is not more than 45 mins and 35 mins. Time Limit for first two section is 45 mins, and next two is 35 mins each. An examiner gets only 2 hours 40 mins for the exam.
There are no minimum cut-off marks, but there is a necessity of overall cut-off marks. There is no further selection process after the Mains exam. Thus, this part of the exam is significant, and the marks obtained in this section will be considered final for merit list preparation. SC/ST/OBC/PWD/XS candidates are eligible for 5% relaxation in case of overall marks obtained. The merit list of the qualified candidates will be published at state and Category level.
After the selection, the candidates will be placed in respective states, and this depends on the marks obtained in the exam.

Local Language Test Optional
The Candidates who qualify the Main exam will be eligible for the Local Language test. But if the candidate can show the 10th or 12th certificate or mark sheet showing that they had earlier studied local languages, then they need not opt for this test.
The test will be conducted after the provisional selection is over but before joining the service. Any candidates who fail to qualify the Local Language test will not be eligible for the service and him or her no further selection process will be conducted.
The final selection depends on:
- Marks scored in the Main examination.
- Qualifying the Local Language test.
- Verification of the Candidates eligibility as per the form filled for the post in an online application.
- There will be a waiting List which is nearly 50% of the vacancies. This will be both for State and category level.
- To be on the waiting list, the candidate should secure minimum marks as decided by the SBI.
- The candidates will be able to join the service if there is any resignation or if there is any more vacancy for non-joining of the candidate.
- The validity of the waiting List is for one year from the date of final result of SBI Clerk 2018.
The candidate who will be joining the service will be in 6 months’ probation, and within this period one must undergo 15 e-lessons. This will lead them to get confirmed in their service. The tenure of probation may extend at the discretion of the Bank.
